Your accommodation will be with a local Nepalese family in a rural homestay.

You can join for 2 week, 1 month, 2 month, 3 month and 4 month durations on the 1st and 15th of each month, year round. We are however flexible with dates and can accommodate as well.

The costs for the project are as follows: 2 weeks is £370, 1 month is £510, 2 months is £780, 3 months is £990 and 4 months is £1180. This cost includes airport pick up and departure, taxis around Kathmandu, hotel stays for 3 nights in Kathmandu, guided sightseeing, bus transfers to and from the placement, support whilst on the placement, and all food and accommodation.

No special skills are required, however we are looking for people aged 18+ who are self-motivated, adaptable and flexible and willing to live and work in rustic conditions, particularly for the Traditional Farming Project.

We run a guest lodge with 16 chalets, bar, restaurant, swimming pools, horses, kids petting farm and gold driving range. We are based at the foot of the Drakensburg Mountains in Badplaas, South Africa.

Our work in the lodge allows us to fund our wildlife rescue and rehabilitation work. We take in injured and orphaned wild animals and also unwanted exotic pets. We also help out local communities with ‘problem’ animals, offering them an alternative solution to killing.

We need volunteers to help out with all aspects of the project. Work may include: working with the animals, hand raising baby animals, cleaning cages, feeding, working with the horses, building, painting, fixing, gardening, working with guests in the lodge, working in the bar and restaurant.

The role of the volunteer:
- You will work together with our coordinators and other volunteers in the communication department in the production of content and images on the work of the organisation.
- Updating the blog on a regular basis.
- Visit the projects and participate in the volunteer activities to collect information and photos to publish on the blog, the social networks and in newsletters.
- Interview the volunteers to write about their stories, testimonials, anecdotes and appreciations of the volunteer work.
- Help updating ads on web pages.
- Management of publications and/or references in digital medias like journals and blogs.
- Organize meetings and exchanges between volunteers.

* Optional tasks: Production of video testimonials, photo editing, and translating texts.

Research can be focused on one of four taxonomic groups (though more than one is possible); Mammals, Birds, Herpetofauna and Insects, and activities will vary depending on the groups chosen. However, each volunteer will learn about all of the taxonomic areas that the project researches so as to benefit from a broad spectrum of rainforest knowledge.

Dates:
Each placement is 20 or 40 days in length, running from Sep-Nov in 2011 and from April-July in 2012.

Volunteer Requirements:
-Aged 18+
- Be in good health and relatively fit
- Have an interest in conservation

Cost:
The cost for 40 days is £1420 and £930 for 20 days. This covers all programme costs, including all food (3 large, wholesome meals a day), clean drinking water at all times, lodging in town and in the field, project materials, boat transport to and from lodges, Puerto Maldonado airport collection and departure transfers, all training and supervision by project manager, WorkingAbroad Projects backup and placement support, and so on.

As a volunteer, you will participate in research tasks focused on dolphin population dynamics. These tasks include:

- At sea data recording activities, such as dolphin identification, behavioural sampling, acoustic monitoring.

- Data analysis and report preparation at the base

- Assisting in educational activities at the marine educational centre

Dates:

Project dates run for 12 days from May to September 2012. There are 5 places available in each project date.

Volunteer requirements:

- Must be over 18 years old

-Speak English

-Should be in good physical condition, able to swim and tolerate long periods on boats under the sun

-Have a strong interest in conservation and animal protection

Costs:

The total cost ranges from £735 to £856 GB pounds for 12 days
(depending on course date).

Volunteers for Mental Health (VfMH) is a small but dynamic UK charity working in an Adult Psychiatric Hospital in Romania.

We are looking for outstanding health or social care professionals keen to use their skills and experience to help some of the most vulnerable people in Europe.

We provide support and pay travel, insurance and accommodation costs.

We recruit continuously for 6 month placements throughout the year. Placements usually start in January, April, July & October.

We are currently looking for volunteers to go out on placement in January or June 2012. The deadline for applications is 21st November 2011. However, applications for other 2012 placements will be accepted after the above deadline.
